RE: The tariff classification of 4-Fluoroaniline, CAS # 371-40-4, imported in bulk form, from China
Dear Mr. Chivini:
In your letter dated August 1, 2002, you requested a tariff classification ruling.
The subject product, 4-Fluoroaniline, is an aniline derivative indicated for use as a pharmaceutical intermediate.
The applicable subheading for 4-Fluoroaniline, also known as Benzenamine, 4-fluoro-, will be 2921.42.1800, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTS), which provides for Amine-function compounds: Aromatic monoamines and their derivatives; salts thereof: Aniline derivatives and their salts: p-Fluoroaniline….. The rate of duty will be 5.8 percent ad valorem.
This ruling is being issued under the provisions of Part 177 of the Customs Regulations (19 C.F.R. 177).
